- Redkit is born to Firepoppy and Sturgeonwhisker in CaveClan, along with his siblings Spiderkit and Dewkit. Soon after he is born, his father is taken by twolegs to be a kittypet.
- Later on, Redkit reaches his sixth moon and, along with his siblings, is made an apprentice, given Grassclaw as a mentor. After the ceremony, Rockfoot emerges from the camp entrance, supporting Sturgeonwhisker, who is tired and wounded after travelling a distance to reach home. Redpaw waits outside the medicine den with Firepoppy to see how Sturgeonwhisker is.
